How Bangla words are counted here
A “word” is a chunk separated by space or a newline. That matches how most teachers and copy desks count. It is not a linguistic tokenizer: বাংলাদেশের counts as one word even though it has a genitive ending. Hyphenated English compounds count as one token if there is no space.
Sentences split on দাঁড়ি (।), full stop, question mark and exclamation mark. Captions that use only commas will under-count sentences. Character counts use Unicode code points, so a conjunct such as ক্ষ is more than one code point. That is the honest number for SMS-style limits; visual glyphs can look shorter.
Reading time assumes about 180 words a minute, a comfortable Bangla silent-reading pace for general prose. News briefs and poetry will differ. Use the Bangla-letter counter if you need to know how much of a mixed English–Bangla paragraph is actually বাংলা.
Hidden characters from PDF copy-paste inflate counts. Run the text through the text cleaner first if the number looks suspiciously high.
